Spring is before us. From myself and the Temple Israel Board of Directors, best wishes and our sincerest hopes that these celebrations are met with good health and peace.

Temple Israel is entering the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year: 2017-2018. I want to provide a brief update on some of our initiatives and to thank all of you who have participated in our services, programs and activities. As the warmer weather brings you out again for activities to fill your schedules I hope you will think of Temple Israel.

In my last President’s message I indicated we would be focusing on shifting the work of our Office and administration from a labour based model to a technology driven one. We are currently installing a new, highly efficient and cost effective telephone system. We have replaced our old copier/scanner with a new model which will give us more service features and save us about 30% per year. We are looking to upgrade our Internet capacity over the next two months. All to ensure we are able to respond to your questions and to better communicate.

Members will also have observed the engagement of our volunteers in so many ways. Our Gift Shop has extended hours of service and significantly added to its inventory. Our Membership and Social Action Committees continue their important community work. On February 25, 2018, we hosted the well attended Comedy Night which is now a Temple annual event. You will soon hear from the Board on recommendations from the Long Term Financial Planning Committee to ensure our sustainability.

Special thanks to the work of our Nominations Committee which is responsible for establishing the new slate of Executive Committee and Board Members for 2018-2019. The full slate will be announced at the Temple Israel Annual General Meeting to be scheduled in late May or early June, 2019.

Special thanks to all of you who assist in coordinating our programs, services and High Holy Days, manage Restmount Cemetery, provide regular contributions to London Jewish Community News, edit and update our communications and website, ensure our Temple is healthy and safe by maintaining our First Aid boxes and Defibrillator and monitoring our security.

It is said it takes a global village to raise our children. It takes all of you working together to give true meaning to Temple Israel. We are truly blessed

Jason Mandlowitz, Temple President
